President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vacation has declared the nation as a military state as the retired Military General takes over the country
According to a statement released today by the Deputy Chief Secretary for Presidential Communication George Charamba on behalf of Chief Secretary Dr. Misheck Sibanda today “His Excellency the President, Dr. E.D Mnangagwa started his annual vacation yesterday 13th of January 2022. His vacation which runs until 5th February 2022 will be spent in the country
During this period, Honorable Vice President General (Retired) Dr. C.G.D.N Chiwenga, as Acting President”
In 2018 he reshuffled Zimbabwe republic Police top brass in the absence of his superior
He restricted the health sector by appointing new CEOs that had been appointed by Obadiah Moyo
In 2019 when Mnangagwa was in Davos on official business and Chiwenga was the acting president he imposed an internet shutdown for 48hrs
In 2020 he militarized the health sector in an attempt to minimize strikes by doctors in the country
Chiwenga rose through the military ranks from the pre-colonial times and took over from the late Zvinavashe.
He has been implicated in the Gukurahundi genocide which left many families grieving in Matabeleland.
