Opposition politician and lawyer Tendai Biti who was, earlier today, convicted of verbally assaulting a local businesswoman and investor Tatiana Aleshina, will be sentenced on Tuesday morning.

Biti, who was being represented by Alec Muchadehama, had denied the charges.

The opposition member was being accused of calling the investor “stupid” at the Harare Magistrates Court in 2020.

In convicting him, magistrate Vongai Guwuriro said in most of his defense Biti alleged that his constitutional rights were being violated but failed to submit any evidence to that effect.

Magistrate Guwuriro postponed the matter to Tuesday for mitigation and sentencing.
