Deajury Doro, a convicted fraudster, and her alleged accomplice, Fungai Nyenge, appeared in court yesterday facing fresh fraud charges related to a meat transaction.

The incident began when Tinashe Chikwasha, a butcher operating in DZ Extension, was introduced to Deajury Doro by Edmore Sembere, who claimed that Doro intended to purchase one tonne of beef.

Chikwasha agreed to the deal and slaughtered two beasts to fulfill the order, delivering the beef to the showgrounds where he encountered Doro accompanied by Nyenge and another individual named Geza Five, alias Daniel Hove.

Police officers patrolling the area intervened and took them to the police station for questioning. Chikwasha provided documentation supporting his transaction and was subsequently released, leaving Doro at the station.

Following his release, Nyenge allegedly informed Chikwasha of a potential market for his meat but also revealed Doro’s reputation as a known fraudster.

Despite this warning, Chikwasha supplied 585.2 kilograms of beef to Nyenge and signed an invoice acknowledging receipt of the meat valued at US$2,136.

However, Nyenge allegedly became evasive, prompting Chikwasha to file a police report regarding the fraudulent transaction.
