MDC T led by Douglas Mwonzora has suspended its party Vice President Thokozani Khupe

The communique released by the party Secretary for Information and Publicity Witness Dube did not state the reason for the suspension

“The MDCT wishes to advise that the First Vice President Dr. Thokozani Khuphe has been suspended. A letter dated 12 January 2022 was personally delivered to Dr. Khuphe and her legal team”

Khuphe suspension comes at a time when the Party is preparing for its congress that is to be held on the 5th of March 2022

The letter stated that Khuphe was under investigation over various unknown various allegations

“investigations are being conducted by a team led by the party’s Arbiter General. The suspension is in line with the party constitution and is a result of certain issues that arose. Once the issues are investigated and fully resolved the party will communicate such” said Dube

Efforts to get a comment from the fired Vp were effortless as her phone was not being answered but a flyer circulating states that she will have a media press briefing tomorrow in Bulawayo

Senator Khaliphani Phugeni is also said to have been served with a suspension letter on allegations of setting up a parallel communication structure within the party

Khuphe and Phugeni remain lawmakers but have been banned from party activities

Khuphe’s suspension is not new to her as she has been suspended more than three times since the death of the MDC founding member Tsvangirai in 2018
